Bacon Egg and Cheese Burger

Share

Sometimes you want breakfast, sometimes you want lunch.  Whenever there is an egg involved, well, it is love.  I love eggs on burgers.  I can’t believe that it took me this long to make it for the blog.  The runny yolk permeating the meat and mixing with the cheese.  Well it is divine and down right amazing!  Here is the mouth watering burger.

Bacon Egg and Cheese Burger – (makes 3 third pound burgers)

  • 1 pound ground beef – (80/20 makes the best burger)
  • 2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
  • 6-9 slices bacon – I prefer 9, but you can scrape by with 6.
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 slices American Cheese
  • salt and pepper

Season the meat with salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce.  Then form the meat into three equal patties.

Cook the bacon over the stove top, in the oven or even in the microwave 🙁 (hell it is bacon, as long as it is on the burger it does not matter how it is cooked).

Preheat a cast iron skillet to medium/high and then fry the burgers over the stove top (roughly 4-5 minutes per side for medium).  You can do this on a grill, but remember you need to fry an egg too.  So unless you have a fry pan that you don’t mind outside, this is best done in the house on the stove.

When the burgers are halfway done start to fry the eggs.  You want to have the eggs and the burger to be done simultaneously.  Make sure to season the egg with salt and pepper.

I wish I had another cast iron pan for the eggs, but I sadly do not.  So I used a non-stick pan.  However, I did use some reserved bacon grease for the pan.  I should get a few brownie points for that.

To assemble, place the egg, bacon and cheese onto the burger pattie.  Then using a lid allow the cheese to steam and melt over the burger.

Serve over a soft kaiser roll and enjoy!!!

This is possible the best burger in the world.  You do not need a lot of seasoning for the burger as the meat and the egg do all of the work.  I have already had two this week.  I don’t see it stopping any time soon.

  • Dude, that is a gorgeous burger in a "croque d' madame" kind of way. Just amazing, I love the egg on top.

I've never tried a burger this way but did do a similar thing with pulled pork topped with a fried egg and a Carolina vinegar sauce for a breakfast sandwich.

  • Chris, You have to try a burger this way. Totally amazing. On another note, I am going to have to try your breakfast sandwich. Pulled pork, egg and Carolina vinegar sauce. Sounds too good to be true.
