It is that time of the year. Yep, College Football. I was chatting with my friend Sean last week about football and he is the biggest Nebraska Cornhuskers fan around. He said that the unofficial drink for Cornhuskers football is the Elk Creek Water. While I am not the biggest Nebraska fan, I was intrigued by the drink. A mixture of gin and vodka combined for the perfect noon game cocktail.
The Elk Creek Water
To make this drink fill a rocks glass with ice and add each of the ingredients minus the sprite. Stir and then top with the sprite.
I was intrigued by the mixture of vodka and gin. The flavor was great and is a nice alternative to a straight screwdriver.
I must say that those husker fans know how to party. I will be making this drink come Saturday.

wow, totally wrong recipe. You want the real deal go to the bar in Elk Creek, NE. Where it was all started.
@Good Try - What recipe do you use?
I am wanting to make Elk Creek Water for a Halloween Party this weekend and am looking for the right recipe...do you know it? I found one that has Vodka, Everclear, Gin, Mountain Dew, 7-up and Squirt, is that right?
While it may have been invented in Elk Creek, NE, Sandy’s in Lincoln, NE made it famous. Went there for FAC (Friday Afternoon Club) back in the 80’s and for all us College kids, it was all year long, as well as before, during and after every football game. Drank a ton of them and knew a lot of the bartenders. Never saw a one of them use Everclear. Stick to the Vodka, Gin, Triple Sec. As far as Lemon Lime soda, Sandy’s always used Sprite And we just referred to them as Elk Creeks. There was no water involved.
That is definitely NOT Elk Creek Water.
Those are on 3 of the ingredients there.
It originally was made in Elk Creek, Nebraska.
We used to sneak a drink or two of the REAL Elk Creek Water back when we were in high school (in the '70's).
