In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, mix 2 ounces of bourbon, 1 ounce of simple syrup (which is equivalent to about 4 teaspoonfuls of sugar) and 1 ounce of fresh squeezed lemon juice.
-
Shake well to blend and really chill the ingredients.
-
Strain into a Collins glass filled with ice.
-
Fill the glass the rest of the way with club soda, stir and garnish with a slice of orange and a cherry.
To make simple syrup, combine 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar into a saucepan. Heat and stir until the sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Store in the refrigerator and use as necessary.
