Biscuits with Sausage Gravy

Ingredients

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (any brand)
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp seasoned salt

Instructions

  • For the biscuits, you can use fresh, frozen, boxed or refrigerated. I prefer to make my own. Here is my go to recipe.
  • They are quick and delicious!
  • Once you have your biscuits prepared, you will need a large skillet. In the skillet over medium/high heat you will want to add your favorite breakfast sausage. I used a 1lb log of mild breakfast sausage.
  • Next you will want to break it up and brown it. Very similar to making chopped meat.
  • Once the sausage is browned you will want to add 1/3rd cup of flour. Mix in and cook for 1 minute.
  • Once the flour is cooked, add three cups of milk. Stir.
  • Add the seasonings, stir and bring to a boil.
  • Once it starts to boil, reduce the heat and simmer until the sauce is the consistency that you desire. I like a smooth but thick gravy. I let mine simmer for 5 minutes after the boil.
  • Serve the gravy over the freshly baked biscuits.
