Homemade Cayenne Hot Sauce

Fresh homemade hot sauce made with ripe cayenne peppers, vinegar, and salt.

Servings: 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb cayenne peppers
  • 4-5 other peppers for flavor
  • 1-2 cups white vinegar
  • 3-4 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Wash and cut pepper stems. Add to blender with salt and vinegar to cover.
  • Blend for 2-3 minutes until smooth and bright red.
  • Pour into saucepan, bring to boil, then simmer 20 minutes.
  • Cool slightly then strain through fine strainer.
  • Pour into sanitized glass container and store in refrigerator.

Notes

Makes about 2 cups. Customize with different peppers for flavor variations.
