What to do this weekend in DC – (September 11-13)

Every Friday I pick the best culinary events in the DC area for my readers to enjoy. This weekend there are some great events to attend in and around the DC metro area from the Maryland Seafood Festival to Pork Barrel BBQ on ABC’s Shark Tank.

Maryland Seafood Festival- Friday – Sunday (Sept. 11-13)

Sandy Point State Park will host the 42nd annual version of the Maryland Seafood Festival, a tasty and entertaining Annapolis tradition, with music, great food, exhibits, arts and crafts, and featuring The Capital’s Crab Soup Cook-off on September 12th!

Admission is $10

Located at the Sandy Point State Park – From DC, Follow Route 50 East to exit 32 for Sandy Point State Park.

Prince George’s County Fair-Saturday to Saturday (Sept. 11-13)

There’s a variety of ENTERTAINMENT and ATTRACTIONS available, from magic, to dance, to pig & duck races. There’s a horse pull competition, a chain saw artist, a Kountry K-8 performance, a marionette show, and more, more, more.  Don’t forget about all of the awesome midway food.

Hours: Friday 5PM to 11PM, Saturday 11AM to 11PM and Sunday 11AM to 6PM

Admission: $6

Location: The COUNTY FAIR is located at the Prince George’s Equestrian Center and the Show Place Arena, near the intersection of Pennsyvania Avenue (MD Route 4) and US Route 301 in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. There is plenty of FREE parking and free shuttle buses are provided at the Fair.

Fall Festival and Taste of Falls Church – Saturday (Sept. 12)

Bring in the fall with live entertainment, amusement rides, pony rides, crafters, businesses, civic organizations, and fantastic food! A children’s activity tent will be open from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. with free face painting and craft projects.

Restaurants Included in this years taste of Falls Church include: Applebee’s, Argia’s, Café Nessma, Clare and Don’s Beach Shack, Dogwood Tavern, Hoang’s Grill & Sushi Bar, Ireland’s Four Provinces, Ledo Pizza, Moe’s Southwest Grill, Open Kitchen Bistro, Robeks and Trader Joe’s.

Location – Located at Cherry Hill Park, 312 Park Ave. Falls Church

Hours of Operation – 10 AM till 4 PM.

Labor Day Parades – Sunday (Sept.  13)

The Adams Morgan Day 18th Street Festival is characterized by two large signature music stages and other innovative & dynamic cultural, music, arts and dance activities. The famous   Columbia and Florida Stages (located strategically on 18th Street at Columbia Rd and at Florida Ave.) feature live music acts from all genres from Central and South America, Latin rock, salsa, jazz, to soul, funk and American rock.

Location – Located at 18th Street between Florida Avenue and Columbia Road, Washington, DC

Hours of Operation – Noon till 7PM.

Pork Barrel BBQ on ABC’s show The Shark Tank – Sunday (Sept. 13)

Watch the local BBQ gurus as they try their hand at getting capital for their new BBQ business.  Be sure to watch Pork Barrel BBQ’s Heath Hall and Brett Thompson battle with the Sharks on Shark Tank on ABC Sunday, September 13th at 9pm EST/8pm CST!  To learn more about Shark Tank visit abc.com/

  1. Rex! thanks for all the great suggestions! i’m going to try and make the event at Prince George’s Equestrian Center and the Show Place Arena – i’m probably not going to be able to get there till after 9pm – do you think there will still be much entertainment going on?
