Cake Mix Cookies

Over Thanksgiving I was at my Sister’s house and she made these delicious cookies.  When I asked for the recipe she said they were the worlds easiest cookies.  That was the understatement of the year.  These are the worlds easiest cookies by far.  They are also extremely tasty.  I ate about 20 of them.

So simple yet so delicious.

Cake Mix Cookies – (From my Sister Shannon)

  • 1 box of your favorite cake mix
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup of your favorite mix-in (chocolate chips, oatmeal, raisins, nuts, etc…)
The ingredients, yep that is it.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Blend the cake mix, egg, water and oil until combined.  Then fold in your favorite mix-in ingredient.  For today’s cookie I choose chocolate chips and walnuts.

Spoon out the cookies onto parchment lined cookie sheets.

I used a tablespoon sized scoop and I got about 30 cookies

Bake the cookies in the middle rack of a 350 degree oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are slightly browned.

Cooked and ready to eat. The cookies are a little yellower than normal, but that is because I used a yellow cake mix.

Let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes and then transfer them to a rack to completely cool.

This recipe is simple and makes about 30 cookies.  My sister was completely right.  Worlds easiest cookies.   These work with any cake mix.  I can’t wait to try German Chocolate Cookies or Fun-fetti cookies.  Oh, those are going to be good.

    1. Thrifty – How about dark chocolate chunks and dried cranberries or hazelnut and milk chocolate. I would pair those with a white cake mix.

  1. A friend taught me how to make these 5 or 6 years ago. They're really good. I actually think the Funfetti ones are the best, although I've never mixed anything in with them.

    1. MC, Funfetti cookies are my favorite too. I think Funfetti cookies are good all by themselves. No need to improve on something that is already awesome.

  2. Great Cookies…Yummy!!!…My recipe from years ago called for 2 eggs and no water..plus I added 1 tablespoon of flour. I'm not sure what the flour does.. I've never tried to leave it out…LOL
My Cookies always turn out delicious.
Have a Blessed Day Everyone, Donna

  3. These only took about 15 minutes – total!! Plus, they are super tasty. I made with white cake mix, almond slices and chocolate chips. Hardly any clean up either 🙂
