Special K Bars

When I was a child my Mom would make us these amazing little bars as a treat.  They were delicious and tasty.  They have a sweet peanut buttery taste but a little crunch from the cereal.  I just recently found out how easy they are to make.  They are super simple.  Just five ingredients and they only take 10 minutes.  You can not beat these treats.

  • 1 1/2 cups of peanut butter
  • 6 cups Special K cereal or you can substitute Corn Flakes

Place a large sauce pan over medium/high heat and add the corn syrup and the sugar.

Back in college I worked at a bar and on a typical Saturday night I would serve hundreds of shots.  One of the goto shots was the lunch box.  It is a great shot.  It has a mixture of amaretto, beer and orange juice.  It is smooth and not too sweet, but just sweet enough…

  1. I thought my mother was a culinary genius when she made stuff like this, rice crispy treats, or chex mix.

  2. I just made these tonight using your recipe. always loved these as a kid, especially when everything is still gooey and warm! But I panicked because I bookmarked your site and it was down right as I was getting started. Had to use a cached copy of this page! Talk about a food crisis.

    1. Kathy – Sorry it was down. My server has been acting funny lately. Glad you still got to make them. They are my favorite. I also like them with chocolate drizzled on them. Talk about awesome!!!

  3. I bet that'd be good! I have to say, though, that I threw out half the batch this morning, simply because I kept eating it all day yesterday. I doubled your batch. Big mistake! My tum-tum hurts today 🙁 but still worth it!

  4. We've been making these in my family since I was a kid. To make them even more fabulous we top them with a "frosting" made by melting a bag of butterscotch chips & a bag of chocolate chips together and pouring on top of the bars. Let it cool until the chocolate on top is set. These are always the first dessert gone at any gathering.
