What to do this Weekend in DC – June 18-20

Happy Fathers Day to all of the dads out there.  This weekend is for you.  There is a lot going on.  First off if you haven’t gotten your tickets to the Beer Bourbon and Barbecue festival you may be out of luck.  They are all sold out.  Although there is some talk that they will have a few tickets for tonights festivities.  First come first served.  Get there early.

Kids Restaurant Week in DC – (June 20-27)

Join in the family foodie fun of DC’s newest summer culinary tradition, Washington, DC Restaurant Week for Kids. From June 20-27, dozens of restaurants throughout DC will cater to families by serving special children’s menus during lunch and early dinner seatings (between 5 PM-6:30 PM). Kids 11 and under pay their age, with purchase of adult entrée.  Click below for participating restaurants.

Old Ebbitt Grill Block Party – (June 19)

This is a great block party and the proceeds go to support the DC Central Kitchen.  The DC Central Kitchen is a great program helping to fight hunger.  Check out the link to learn more.

There are two types of tickets, a $110 VIP ticket and $35 Admission Only ticket. VIP ticket includes unlimited food and drink (including beer, wine, frozen cocktails, soda, and water). Each Admission Only ticket is just that, admission only. Additional food and beverage tickets will be available for purchase during the party.

Location – Located at 15th and G St. NW.

Hours of Operation – 4PM till 11 PM.

Taste of Reston – Friday to Saturday (June 18-20)

Taste of the Town is Northern Virginia’s largest outdoor food festival featuring delectable samplings from the region’s favorite eateries, live music both days, beer and wine gardens, and fun and games at Kids Korner.  There are a ton of restaurants this year.  Big Bowl, Buffalo Wing Factory, Clyde’s of Reston, Dinner Zen, Fresh City, Il Fornaio, La Madeline French Bakery, Market Street Bar & Grill, Mayuri Indian Cuisine, McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurant, The Melting Pot, Milwaukee Frozen Custard (My Favorite), M&S Grill, Mon Ami Gabi, Obi Sushi, Paradise Ice Cream, PassionFish, Paolo’s Ristorante, Red Hot & Blue, Uno Chicago Grill, Vie de France Bakery Cafe,  and Vinifera Wine Bar & Bistro.

Parking and admission are free, you just need to purchase tickets to taste the food.  The tickest are cheap, just $1 each.  The “tastes” are individually priced between 1-5 tickets.  A portion of ticket proceeds benefits INC.Spire.

Spike’d Sundays – (June 20)

Every Sunday this summer from noon to six, you can relax poolside with refreshing beverages and a perfectly grilled Spike burger.  There will be a live DJ spinning the newest beats poolside.  Make sure to stay till dusk as that is when Spike’d Cinema starts.  They will be showing one comedy each week poolside.
