I love potatoes and I am always looking for a new way to cook them on the grill. I have done foil packets before, but this time it is serious. The potatoes are plump, juicy and completely coated with cheese. Who could ask for a better side on this Memorial Day Weekend. By opening up…

I love meatloaf, but it has been so hot outside that I have not wanted to turn on the oven. So I decided to make a meatloaf on the grill. It is super simple and you get to be outside. I love cooking outdoors in the summer. OK it is not summer yet, but it…

Since it is almost summer and extremely hot and humid here in DC, I decided to make a tropical drink. There are a ton of tropical fish bowl drinks out there, but I stumbled across one that fits the bill. It is tasty, it is blue and it is tropical in flavor. All of the…

I was asked by Nick from Macheesmo to write one of the 55 chapters for the 55 knives e-book. I was honored to be asked to write about bacon. As you guys know, bacon is dear to my heart. So after a few ideas, I wrote a chapter about baking maple brown sugar bacon. Then…

I picked up some pork chops the other day and decided that grilled pork chops with applesauce sounded like a winner. I had to, it was a Brady Bunch staple. So I picked up McIntosh apples and went on a journey to make homemade applesauce. All of the recipes out there used a ton of…

As a bartender I always needed a go to drink for people that didn’t like alcohol, but wanted to get a buzz. This drink has great flavor, masks alcohol very well and comes in a bright red package. This adds the best part of drinking to the traditional non-alcoholic drink. Vodka!!

The other day, Dana and I were walking through the store and she wanted Egg Salad Sandwiches. However, she wanted them on small cocktail bread. She said it was something that her Grandma would always make. Who was I to say no. So, we made little egg salad sliders. I made a few open faced sliders and…

Last weekend Nick from Macheesmo came over for a great day of grilling. We ate like kings. The first dish of the day was grilled lobster rolls. Every once in a while you will find lobster on sale. Who would have thunk it. However, I got a great deal, two 5oz lobster tails for $5.99. …

Last week I made Chipotle Peach Chicken. It was awesome and as soon as I tasted the barbecue sauce I realized that it would be an amazing hot wing sauce. So I fine tuned it and made some wings. I must admit that it was awesome. The wings have a little heat on the front…

The other day I was searching for something to grill. Then I found some chipotle peppers in my pantry. It was on. I was going to make a BBQ sauce and cook up some chicken. The sweetness of the peach would hopefully offset the heat and smokiness from the chipotles. It was a huge hit.

After all of the votes were cast, my Samosa Pizza was the winner. I guess the third time is the charm. Thank you to everyone that voted. It was a lot of fun. Check out the results and judges write-up over at FoodieFights.com. To see the winning recipe click here. Thanks again, Rex

There is a little pizza restaurant in DC called Matchbox that makes pretty darn good pizzas. Although they are known more for their sliders than their pizza, they make a pretty mean pie. My favorite is the Fire and Smoke pizza. It is a mixture of spicy and smokey ingredients that play together to make…

The other week I was coming back from Pork in the Park when we stopped at a Sonic Drive-in. I love Sonic. The food is delicious and the drinks are amazing. I am a huge fan of the cherry limeade. After taking a few sips, you realize that it would be amazing with alcohol. So…

Every week I try to feature an amazing cocktail. This week includes one of the best creations I have ever made. This cocktail started yesterday when I featured cold brew coffee on my blog. Cold brew coffee is brewed slowly and creates a nice smooth bitter-less coffee concentrate. Therefore, I wanted to create a cocktail…

So it has been getting warm around here and I have been spending a small fortune on iced coffee. I like the caffeine and since it is hot, why not get it cool and refreshing. To save a little money I wanted to try something a little different. It is called cold brew coffee. Basically…
