The True Sour
This weeks drink of the week is the True Sour. It can be made with almost any spirit, but today I made a nice vodka sour. Usually when made at a bar, vodka sour is made with vodka, sour mix and club soda, or with vodka and squirt. But today I am using a recipe from The Cocktail Primer. A great book written by Eben Klemm that showcases everything that you need to know to make the perfect cocktail.
Garnished with a lemon slice and a simple cherry, this drink is perfect.
True Sour – (From The Cocktail Primer)
- 2 ounces of your favorite spirit – I used vodka.
- 1/2 ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 ounce of simple syrup
- club soda
- dash of bitters
- citrus slice and/or cherries for garnish
Place the spirit, lemon juice, simple syrup into a cocktail shaker that is filled with ice. Shake Shake Shake, and then strain into a rocks glass. Top with club soda. Finally add a couple of dashes of bitters and you have made the perfect sour cocktail. Don’t forget to add the garnish.
