Vodka Limonata

Do I love cocktail Wednesday or what.  It has been warm and cold here in DC.  Some days it is 30 and others it is 60.  The other night it was 60 and I wanted to grill.  Nothing goes with warm weather like cocktails and grilling.   Today I am trying out a refreshing cocktail that is almost completely based on the mixer.  You know the type, vodka cranberry, vodka OJ, Crown and Ginger etc….  Today is no different, the mixer is  Limonata.

This cocktail is light, refreshing and just waiting for a summer barbecue.

Vodka Limonata

  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 6 oz Limonata
  • 1 Collins glass or tall cocktail glass

What exactly is Limonata?  Limonata is a sparkling lemon drink imported from Italy and made by San Pellegrino.  It has a pleasant yet strong flavor that masks vodka quite well.  Limonata is sold at fine grocers.  You may not be able to pick it up at the local Safeway, but they do carry it at the local Harris Teeter.   It comes in cans and glass bottles.  Not the cheapest mixer around, but it makes a mean cocktail.

Fill a Collins glass or a tall cocktail glass with ice.  Add the vodka and fill with the Limonata.  Stir and serve garnished with a lemon.

Limonata - garnish with a lemon

This cocktail is amazing.  I served it with balsamic barbecue sauce glazed chicken.  The pairing was amazing.  Plus, it was a nice comfortable 60 degrees outside in January.  Who could ask for a better night.  If you can get your hands on a couple bottles or cans of Limonata, you have to try this.

    Competition Chili

I have always wanted to enter into a chili competition but never had the time.  So I decided I would make a nice competition chili at home to see what the differences are between it and normal chili.  For one, Competition chili does not have beans.  It can not have any fillers such as noodles…

    Cowboy Baked Beans

As you can see I am prepping this week for barbecue.  Yesterday was some awesome potato salad.  Today we are making cowboy baked beans.  I wanted to make beans from scratch.  Just a word of warning.  Making beans from scratch takes longer than barbecueing a whole hog.  The end result, was totally worth it.  And…

  1. Why waste 2 or 3 dollars on a limonta when you can make it cheaper and better yourself especially when your making it in bulk. Just buy lemons, sugar and pellegrino. Why waste your time posting this on the internet.

      1. I wasted my time writing up this drink as I really like limonata and I know that a majority of my readers have never heard of it. So to enlighten them on a new refreshing way to drink vodka, I wrote about the vodka limonata.

      2. I didn't make the limonata from scratch for the same reason I don't make coca cola from scratch. I leave the formulation and manufacture of soda's to the experts. Thanks for the comment. 🙂

    1. I haven't tried the Aranciata or the Chinotto. They have the Aranciata at the local store but they do not have the Chinotto. I will have to pick up the orange Aranciata next time I go to the store. Any suggestions for liquors for the Aranciata?

  2. I just picked up aranciata and limonata at the store and searched for if either of these would go with vodka. Thanks for the pictures and drink recipe! It's great.

  3. Had both chilled vodka and limonata in fridge one day and mixed the 2 together.
It was very tasty and refreshing. Will do that again.
Also the variations of sparkling soda, lemonade, vodka will have to be tried …
