What to do this weekend in DC (June 19-21)

Every friday I pick the best culinary events in the DC area for my readers to enjoy.  This weekend there are some great events to attend in and around the DC metro area.

Kids Restaurant Week in DC – (June 13-21)

Cookie and Gourmet invite you to join us for Kids’ Restaurant Week 2009!  Week-long promotion in Washington, DC (June 13-21).  Prix fixe menus: Adults pay $29; Kids 11 and under pay their age.  Early dinner seatings 5:00-7:00pm.

Bourbon, Beer and BBQ Festival – Saturday (June 20)

Bourbon, Beer and BBQ festival is all about beer sippin’, bourbon tastin’, music listenin’, cigar smokin’, and barbeque eatin’. Your admission buys you a sampling glass so you can enjoy an ALL-YOU-CARE –TO-TASTE sampling of beer and bourbon. Some of the best barbeque vendors are on-site if you get hungry all while enjoying seminars in the tasting theater and LIVE music all day.  You get to sample 60 beers, 40 bourbons and a ton of BBQ.

Don’t forget about the WORLD BBQ BEAN –EATING CHAMPIONSHIP.  Yes, another gut stuffin competition.  Starts at 3:30 and the winner receives a trophy and $100 dollars cash. They crossed it out on the website but the winner should be crowned the gassiest human alive.

Clifton Wine Festival – Saturday (June 20)

Winetasting, music, arts and crafts, stuff for the kids and gourmet cuisine.  Who could ask for more.  Located at the Children’s Park in historic Clifton, VA.  The festival is open from 11am to 7pm on the 20th.

Spike’d Sundays – Sunday (June 21)

If you didn’t go last week, Former “Top Chef” Spike Mendelsohn hosts this summer-long pool party, with burgers, drinks and swimming.  Located at  Best Western Capitol Skyline Hotel,  10 I St SW,  Washington, DC.  Entry is $10 and includes a Spike Burger.
