It is football season and one of my many traditions is to start the day off with a bloody mary. As a former bartender I have had many bloody mary’s in my day. Most of them were horrible. It was almost as if they just added tomato juice to vodka. After quizzing many bartenders on their secrets and trying them out for myself I have found a great recipe for the perfect bloody mary.
I always serve my bloody mary’s with a zesty dill pickle spear.
Bloody Mary
- 16oz glass
- 3oz vodka
- 1 tbs Worcestershire Sauce
- 3 dashes hot sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp horseradish
- 1/2 tsp celery salt
- 6-8oz tomato juice
The first step is to fill the glass with ice and then add the vodka. 3oz is for a balanced drink, but if you like yours strong then add more.
Next add the Worcestershire sauce.
Now add the hot sauce, celery salt and garlic powder.
Next add the horseradish. Make sure to stir the mixture after adding the horseradish to make sure that it is dispersed throughout the glass. Otherwise it will pile on the bottom and your first two sips will be plenty horsey.
Finally top the glass off with tomato juice. Make sure to leave yourself about a half of inch or else your garnish will not fit in the glass.
Stir thoroughly and garnish with a zesty pickle.
Please enjoy responsibly.

Never thought of this before, but if you just look at the ingredients list, that looks like it could be an interesting "mop" for BBQing.
Great idea. Bloody Mary mopped BBQ. Plus, if you have any extra you can drink the mop. Wonder how this would taste mopped on the smoked breakfast sausage? Could be the perfect brunch item.
Yum! You’re speaking my language now!
