This past weekend my parents came to visit me out in the Nation’s Capital. I decided to barbecue and my Mom made the sides. She made these amazing baked beans with bacon, onions and ground beef. I had to get the recipe as they were delicious.
The crispy bacon and tender ground beef go amazing with baked beans.
Hamburger Baked Beans – (Thanks Mom)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 28oz can of Baked Beans
- 1 28oz can of Pork and Beans
- 1 15oz can of diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- Half of a sliced onion
- 4 bacon slices
Brown the hamburger and drain the excess fat.
In 5qt casserole dish mix the baked beans, pork and beans, diced tomatoes and brown sugar.
Mix in the browned hamburger.
Next layer the slices of onion over the bean mixture.
Cut the strips of bacon in half and layer over the top of the bean mixture.
Place the baked beans in a preheated 350 degree oven uncovered for one hour.
These beans are awesome. Give them a try and let me know.
Ye gods that looks amazing. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
Are you kidding me? “Mom’s baked beans”? You just don’t get better than mom’s baked beans. I like the addition of ground beef to the dish. I usually add pulled pork but EVERYONE does that so the beef is a nice touch.
I enjoy pulled pork in my beans too, but when you are Barbecuing it is hard to serve the freshly smoked meat if you have to wait for the beans to cook. So the hamburger is a great addition. Plus the layer of smoked bacon on top. Delicious!
Its like you read my mind! You seem to know a lot about this, like you wrote the ebook in it or something. I feel that you just could do with a few percent to power the message home a little bit, however instead of that, that is excellent blog. An excellent read. I’ll definitely be back.
