I had a tub of vanilla ice cream lying around and I wanted to make a sundae, but I had no toppings. So I decided to make my own hot fudge. Luckily I had a pretty stocked pantry and had a can of evaporated milk lying around. Hot fudge is really easy to make. If I had known it was this easy, I would have made it years ago.
The fudge was amazing!
Hot Fudge – (From BH & G cookbook)
- 3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup butter
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk – 5oz can
In a heavy saucepan melt the butter and chocolate.
Once melted add the sugar.
After you have the sugar incorporated slowly add the evaporated milk.
Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the temp to low. Continue to cook for 8-10 minutes.
Serve over icecream.Â
Cover and regrigerate any leftovers. In all this took about 15 minutes start to finish to make fresh hot fudge.
