What to do this weekend in DC – (October 9-11)

Every week I pick out the best culinary and social events happening on the weekends in the DC area.  I choose the fun, exciting and enlightening events.  This week is no different.  However, I also wanted to showcase the pick your own orchards around the DC area.  So along with this weeks events I have highlighted a few orchards in the area that will allow you to pick your own apples.

Maryland Brewer’s Oktoberfest – Saturday (October 10)

Over 75 Beers from 11 Maryland Breweries. Food includes Brats and Brats and Brats. Oh and other German Food. Don’t forget about the Oompah Bands.

Admission: $18 before Saturday and $25 On-Site and Includes: Souvenir Mug, Six Beer Tokens, Live Music and Seminars.

Time: Noon to 8PM.

Location: Maryland State Fairgrounds, 2200 York Road, Timonium, MD 21093 (Under the Grandstands)

Taste of Georgetown – Saturday (October 10)

The annual Taste of Georgetown showcases the spectacular cuisine of thirty of Washington, D.C.’s finest restaurants, highlighting Georgetown’s culinary personalities and featuring nearly sixty delectable dishes to sample, as well as wine pairings and the jazz talents of Blues Alley.

Admission: $5: One Tasting Ticket or $20: Five Tasting Tickets – One ticket is good for one tasting

Time: 11 to 4PM.

Location: The Taste of Georgetown is located at Wisconsin Avenue, NW, south of M Street in the heart of Georgetown. Be sure to check out all the available transportation options, including Metro, DC Circulator, and the Georgetown Metro Connection, to avoid traffic.

  1. Last weekend I went to Butler Orchard. It is in Maryland near Germantown and it was awesome! It is almost the end of apple picking season but we picked some apples, raspberries, and pumpkins! It is not too far away and I certainly recommend it!
