Pear Martini

Pear Martini

The other week I recreated the infamous honey baked ham.  In doing this, I used pear nectar.  The jar of pear nectar that I had was way too big, so I had a lot left over.  I used the remaining nectar to make martinis.  Yep, pear martinis.  They were so good that you could barely taste the alcohol.  I garnished this cocktail with a slice of pear.

Pear Martini

  • 4 oz vodka
  • 1/2 lime squeezed
  • 3 oz pear nectar
  • pear slice for garnish

In a shaker filled with ice add the vodka, lime juice and pear nectar.  Shake it until you can no longer shake and strain into a martini glass.  If you are a little out of shape, shake and then pass it to a friend.

Garnish with a pear slice.

This drink is awesome!!  I wish I could have had more.  The pear nectar is super intense and the perfect mixer for a cocktail.

Bartender Tip of the Day

How to get a drink in a crowded bar.  This is a hard task, especially when the bar is filled with a-holes and d-bags.

  1. First have your form of payment out.  This shows the bartender that you know what you want and you are ready to pay for it.
  2. When you order, be specific and do not pause to think about what you want.  Order and pay.  If you pause, say hmm, or even turn to ask someone else what they want, the bartender will likely leave.
  3. Stand or sit near the wells or the taps.  When the bartender is making a drink, nicely ask, “Whenever you get a chance could I please get a …”.  Being kind and polite goes a long way.
  4. If you are male and have trouble getting a drink, slide in next to a girl, get the bartender’s attention and then say she was first.  Hard to believe, but a good bartender will appreciate this and most likely serve you next.  If this fails, offer to buy a girl a drink if she gets the bartender’s attention.
  5. Never whistle, yell “hey you”, tap the bar, bang the bar, make rude comments toward the bartender or even wave at the bartender.  This will piss the bartender off and make it so that you will never get served.
  6. Tips matter, especially when you know that you are going back to the bar or will be ordering more than one round.  Bartenders may not remember your name, but they will remember your face and your drink of choice.  Nothing encourages someone to remember like a good tip.
  7. Finally, be relaxed.  Honestly, if you look like you just want a drink, a bartender will see it, serve you and get you out of there.  Good customers are all anyone wants.

  1. Aw, this was an extremely nice post. Taking the time and actual effort

to produce a superb article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a whole lot and don’t manage to get nearly anything done.

  2. Thanks for this suggestion! I could not find pear nectar…I did find peach nectar though…I was planning to grill salmon and had some mango lime salsa to go with it so I thought the peach might be nice. I shall continue to look for the pear nectar…….
