Perfect Corn

Over the 4th of July holiday I was home visiting my family and my Grandma made some unbelievable corn.  It was perfectly cooked and super tasty.  I asked my Mom and Grandma for their secrets.  The key was to boil the corn.  I could not believe it, but the corn comes out perfect each and every time.

Perfect Corn

  • 2 ears of corn
  • 6 quarts of water
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tbs of sugar

This recipe works for for more ears too.  As you increase the water, increase the salt and sugar.

Corn

Shuck the corn and remove the silk.

Fill a pot with cold water and add the salt and sugar.  Then add the corn.

Add the corn to the salted water

Place the pot on the burner and turn to high.  When the water starts to boil, set a timer for 10 minutes.

Boil for 10 minutes

That is it.  When the timer goes off, remove the corn and you have perfect corn every time.

Corn on the cob

So simple it almost seems like it won’t work. But it works every time.  The corn comes out plump and juicy, never chewy.  The easiest way to cook corn ever!

  1. Thanks Dana!

Chris, I also like it grilled, but when you do a ton of corn you do get better results boiling it. Plus sometimes you run out of charcoal, like I did. Haha.
