Over the 4th of July holiday I was home visiting my family and my Grandma made some unbelievable corn. Â It was perfectly cooked and super tasty. Â I asked my Mom and Grandma for their secrets. Â The key was to boil the corn. Â I could not believe it, but the corn comes out perfect each and every time.
Perfect Corn
- 2 ears of corn
- 6 quarts of water
- 1 tsp of salt
- 1 tbs of sugar
This recipe works for for more ears too. Â As you increase the water, increase the salt and sugar.
Shuck the corn and remove the silk.
Fill a pot with cold water and add the salt and sugar. Â Then add the corn.
Place the pot on the burner and turn to high. Â When the water starts to boil, set a timer for 10 minutes.
That is it. Â When the timer goes off, remove the corn and you have perfect corn every time.
So simple it almost seems like it won’t work. But it works every time. Â The corn comes out plump and juicy, never chewy. Â The easiest way to cook corn ever!
Best corn ever!!!
I like it grilled better, but doing it this was is EASIER and much more CONSISTENT with results. Tender and not overdone.
Thanks Dana!
Chris, I also like it grilled, but when you do a ton of corn you do get better results boiling it. Plus sometimes you run out of charcoal, like I did. Haha.
