It has been horribly hot here in DC. Â Averaging 95 every single day. Â When it is that hot outside you do not want to cook or even venture outside. Â The only problem was that I wanted dessert. Â However, there was no way that I was going to turn the oven on to bake. So I decided to make smoothies. Â They are healthy, cold and refreshing. Â The best part is that they are super fast to make. Â Just add your favorite juice, your favorite fruit and blend.
Strawberry Banana Smoothies
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
- 6-8 frozen strawberries
- 1/2 banana, sliced
- 1 cup ice
I find that using frozen strawberries is the way to go. Â They are a lot cheaper and they add another level of textures to the final drink. Â Plus, since you are pureeing the smoothie, you do not need to present a fresh beautiful strawberry.
In the pitcher of your blender add the orange juice and yogurt. Â Then add the frozen strawberries and sliced banana.
Finally top with ice.
Blend until the ice is chopped and the smoothie is nice and smooth.
Pour into a glass and enjoy!!
