Growing up my parents would always make pork chops. My mom would marinate them and my dad would grill them up. They were great. So when I went to the store they had pork chops on sale. The first thing that came to mind was my mom’s marinade. It is a soy based marinade that I knew I could spice up nicely.
So I added a bunch of hot peppers and red pepper flake. I like it spicy!!
Marinated Grilled Pork Chops – (good for up to 6 chops) – (adapted from my Mom’s recipe, Thanks Mom!)
- 3/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 2 jalapeno peppers
- 1 tbs red pepper flake
- 1 tbs brown sugar
- 1 tbs prepared chili sauce
- 1 tsp black pepper
Since this is a soy sauce based sauce, no extra salt is needed.
The first step is to mix the marinade. I place all of the ingredients in a zip top bag, seal it and mix it by hand.
Next place your pork chops in the bag, remove the air and allow them the marinate for at least an hour. I usually try to allow them to marinate for around 4 hours. Take them out of the fridge 10 minutes before you grill.
When you are ready to grill, heat up your grill so that the grates are hot. I turn it up to high for this step. We want to sear the pork chops. After placing them on the grates, I turn the heat down to medium and close the lid. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes on each side. This depends on how thick your chops are.
Next flip the chops and continue cooking until are done.
Takes roughly another 6-8 minutes. Using a meat thermometer the internal temperature should be 160 degrees.
Remove from the heat and let the chops sit for a couple of minutes before serving. I served these chops with grilled corn with cayenne salt. Awesome!!  The step by step for grilling corn is here. After grilling the corn, coat it with a thin layer of butter and sprinkle with the cayenne salt. To make cayenne salt it is 5 parts salt, 1 part cayenne pepper.
A perfect meal.
Expect a lot more grilling recipes now that I have a new grill. I love using it. Enjoy!!!
Oh, those look perfect! Funny, I never grilled pork chops–but it makes so much sense. Great marinade!
Elle you should get your butcher to cube the pork chops, then grill them, coat in you favorite bbq sauce and then serve them on nice kaiser. I always add a few pickles. The best sandwich ever!!!
These look really really good, but could you clarify what you mean by chili sauce please IE Heinze chili sauce, Sambal, Siracha, etc…Which type is it? Thank you for your time and attention and the spiffy recipies…
Sorry Amanda. A ketchup based chili sauce such as Heinz chili sauce.
Than You Kindly…I will cut a few steaks off the Boston butt I am prepping this evening and marinate them overnight and try them for Dinner Tomorrow…
Sounds awesome! Let me know what you think.
I can Happily pronounce it A Excellent! Served it with garlic chicken rice and Sauteed cabbage and onions and the kids destroyed it…Poor Papa gets no leftover for lunch tomorrow
…LOL…Thanks
Glad your family enjoyed the marinade. This is one of the staple recipes in my family. I have also used it on chicken skewers with great success. Tell your husband that I am sorry that he doesn't have any leftovers. I guess next time you will have to butcher the entire butt. Thanks again for the great comment.
