We recently got a new rice cooker. Â It is a zojirushi rice cooker and it is freaking awesome! Â and I wanted to expand our repertoire of rice dishes beyond just white long grain rice. Â So I decided to come up with a new recipe that would utilize the rice cooker but impart a ton of flavor. Â So I substituted the water for chicken broth and then added herbs and onions to enhance the flavors. This was some of the tastiest rice I have ever made.
Herbed Rice
Add two tablespoons of butter to a frying pan and heat over medium/high heat.
Dice an onion and add it to the pan and cook until tender.
Add two cups of rice to the bowl of your rice cooker. Â Then rinse the rice, drain and repeat until the water is clear. Â Once the water is clear, drain and set aside.
Once the onion is tender, add it to the rice. Â Then add dried herbs and salt.
Finally add 1-14.5 oz can of chicken broth to rice bowl.
Cook the rice according to your rice cooker instructions.
Once the rice is cooked, fluff with a fork and serve.

If you do not have a rice cooker you can cook the rice on the stove top. When it comes to the rice cooking steps, cook according to the directions on your rice container.
This was some of the most flavorful rice I have had.
