Living in the South, I have come to love a good biscuit. Â A nice flaky biscuit that is on the verge of being too salty, but is just right. Â Mmm, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Â My son Liam asked me to make biscuits, so I decided to have a go at it. Â The results were awesome! Â These were some of the best biscuits I have had. Â Definitely the best biscuit I have ever made.
Easy Buttermilk Biscuits
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, sugar, baking soda and baking powder.
Add the ice cold butter and cut it in using a pastry blender or knife. Â Blend in the butter until you get pea sized pieces. Â This will take a couple of minutes.
Create a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the butter milk. Â Fold in the flour to incorporate the mixture. Â You can use a spatula or your hands. Â I prefer using my hands.
Once the dough has come together, pour it out onto a floured surface. Â Roll out the dough into a uniform height, about 3/4 inch tall. Â Then using a floured biscuit cutter cut into 12 biscuits. Â You will have to re-roll the dough to get all 12 biscuits. Â If you don’t have a biscuit cutter you can use a plastic cup. Â I found that a cup works great!
Place the biscuits onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake for 18-22 minutes or until golden brown.
Let the biscuits cool on the sheet for 1 minute before removing to a cooling rack.
These biscuits are great slathered in butter or even as a breakfast sandwich. Â They are the bomb!
